LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A man is accused of trying to lure a student into his car in the south-central part of the valley, according to documents held by the I-Team.

Ronald Jervis, 66, from Las Vegas, is charged with luring or trying to lure a child under the age of 16.

According to his arrest report, a girl was walking home from school on May 14 when a man in a car yelled at her. When the girl didn’t answer, the man turned around and screamed again.

Jervis is accused of asking the girl if she wanted to go home and if she wanted something to drink, the report said. The girl refused and took a video of the car driving away. Then she called her father who called 911.

Police used a license plate reader to track Jervis’ car to an address near East Charleston Boulevard and South Mojave Road, the report said.

According to the report, police also checked videos from a nearby store of the incident.

The police arrested Jervis last Friday. During an interview, he told police, “he often approaches women on the street and asks them if they want a lift,” investigators said. Jervis told police he didn’t “realize she was young until she said no”.

Due to Nevada’s privacy laws, the victim’s age, school and specific location were blacked out in the police report.
