LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The headquarters of the World Buddhism Association have applied for a permit to set up a tiger sanctuary on the corner of Paradise and Sahara Blvd. just one block from the Las Vegas strip.

The application, first published by Vital Vegas, rests with the Winchester Town Advisory Board. While many will assume the Strip is Las Vegas, it actually isn’t and is located in the unregistered city of Winchester.

According to ownership records, the World Buddhism Association headquarters bought just over 11 acres on this corner in 2018 for $ 17.5 million.

The application asks for a usage permit to allow “naturally dangerous exotic animals” and a “leisure facility with accessories retail, restaurant and alcohol consumption on site”.

In the “Design Review” section of the application to the city administration it says: “Design review for a recreational facility with inherently dangerous exotic animals, which consists of a fabric structure (tent) and a tiger sanctuary.”

The issue is due to be raised at the board meeting on Tuesday, November 30th. It will take place at 6 p.m. at the Winchester Community Center at 3130 McLeod Dr. instead of
