LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – We’re only a week away from a fully reopened Las Vegas with no business or activity restrictions. But what exactly will change when we get to the June 1st date?
A fully reopened Las Vegas that is coming to a store near you soon. The valley is preparing for pre-pandemic normalcy from June 1st. This means that all chairs and tables at Pho Thanh in Chinatown are available.
“It’s a big difference. It was a bit slow before. After two more weeks there is a lot of business. Even like the travelers and residents who come in, “said Julie Huang.
Huang is a manager at Pho Thanh Restaurant. She says staff are still wearing masks as a precaution and she feels safer with widespread vaccinations.

“Everyone got the second shot and the whole state is more stable and people come more often,” she said.
But at least for now, don’t expect more people at certain government agencies like the DMV. The agency said it will add more chairs in the waiting area but will not be able to extend appointments. The pandemic creates personnel problems in the agency.
“Well, we have 64 vacancies across the department for potential budget cuts. Due to the improved budget picture of the state, the legislature was able to restore these cuts. Now we’re hiring and training people, ”said Kevin Malone, information officer for DMV in Nevada.
The DMV says these new employees will work until mid-August. Currently, employees are being asked to book online appointments so they can do their business. The goal? Make the DMV an appointment-based agency.
“So please go to our website and make an appointment early in the morning. It will take 90 days. If you have an appointment that you can’t keep, please go back to the website and cancel it, ”he said.

Those who hope their unemployment issues will be resolved in person will have to wait. The Nevada Department of Employment, Education, and Rehabilitation said it has no schedule for its career centers to reopen for personal services. It is said that all applicants can still access services online, which means nothing will change for the time being.
But Pho Thanh is changing. Huang says the restaurant will continue to keep orders. She is optimistic about a post-pandemic future.
“I hope more people will come over and try my food, and I hope there are more shops in Las Vegas. I hope Las Vegas is more incredible, ”she said.
