Merlin Custom Home Builders was honored with the Gold Nugget Award of Merit for the best custom home on over 8,000 square meters at the virtual award ceremony of the Pacific Coast Builders Conference 2020 on July 24th. Merlin received the Builder Award for his “Water’s Edge” showroom on Lake Las Vegas.

Water’s Edge is the first custom built home built in the Estates of Lake Las Vegas on Reflection Bay. The extraordinary home has both visual and physical connections to the lake. It is located on its own peninsula and offers a breathtaking view of the lake, the nearby and distant mountains and the golf course from all the main living areas.
The two-story contemporary house combines indoor and outdoor living experiences. The outdoor living space captures the essence of a modern desert estate through the use of clean, sharp-edged minimalism and materials like concrete and metal, while the indoor living space consistently reflects sophistication and comfort.
Developed by Raintree Investment and designed by Swaback Partners, PLLC, the 8,597-square-foot award-winning home was featured in Luxury Las Vegas magazine and previously awarded the Southern Nevada Home Builders Association’s Silver Nugget Award for Design and Architecture. The interior was provided by Studio V. Interiors.
“This is the first modern architecture in Lake Las Vegas,” said Patrick Parker, president of Raintree Investment, developer of Lake Las Vegas. “We made a very conscious decision to use the homepage. Our vision was to bring contemporary architecture to Lake Las Vegas and really connect this home to the lake. The architect Vern Swaback, Frank Lloyd Wright’s last living apprentice, was involved in the design. His style is evident in the open floor plan, the numerous overhangs and highlights of nature throughout the property. “
PCBC is the largest housing trade fair in the West Coast region and aims to promote the arts, science and business of housing. The Gold Nugget Awards, known as the Construction Industry Academy Awards, are presented to the best innovators in the industry in design, planning and development at the end of the annual exhibition.
The 2020 Merit Award winners and a grand prize winner were selected by a group of top industry experts from more than 600 U.S. and international submissions in over 50 categories including single-family manufacturing, home, commercial, office, renovation and mixed-use, affordable, multi-family and Location planning.
The Gold Nugget Award competition is open to home builders, developers, architects, interior decorators / designers, and land planners with communities and projects in the US and internationally.
