LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – It’s a place Austin Powers would vibrate, and a Las Vegas veteran helped rename the hotel it’s located in.

“The Shag Room is very interesting,” said Chad Brown, vice president of JC Hospitality, the owners and property managers of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Chad was given the chance to help transform the Hard Rock Hotel into Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

“I can’t think of anything else in town that looks like this room,” Chad said of the Shag Room.

Featuring velvet decor, bold design, and groovy furnishings, the Shag room pays homage to the famous Studio 54 without the over the top parties.

Instead, the space is more of a nifty space with options for everyone, including business meetings, private events, and live entertainment.

“We have a four-piece jazz band that comes in every Saturday night and they’re spectacular,” said Chad. “We have a DJ booth so that we can bring in DJ talent. This room serves several purposes. “

But serving our country in the army is another part of his résumé that he is proud of.

“My grandfather served in World War II and my father served in Vietnam, so I thought it was my turn to serve my country,” said Chad.

Chad is an army veteran. When he joined the military, his goal was to get a job he would never get in the civilian world.

“I wanted to have a new experience because I knew I would go back to college after I quit. So I went into service and was a gunner,” said Chad. “And for the last two years I was at the national training center of the opposing units, training troops for action and training in foreign tactics and teaching them what they would be up against when they were deployed. It was amazing.”

Then he switched from serving our country to making his way to the top of the marketing world. Acquired projects with properties such as Treasure Island, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay and more, including Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

From big concerts and festivals to high profile artists to pool parties and more, Chad says he and his team are just getting started.

“We have so much planned for 2021,” said Chad. “It seems like something new and more is coming for this property every day this year.”
