Coroner identifies body found near downtown Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – UPDATE June 21: Clark County coroner has identified the victim as 60-year-old Mark Patrick Gilfoyle. His death was due to blunt violent injuries and was classified as a homicide.

Police are investigating a murder after a body was found in the middle of the street near downtown Las Vegas.

Officers responded to reports of the incident on Gragson Avenue, near Washington Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard, shortly before 10:30 p.m.

When they arrived, the police said they found a man on the road.

The investigation, conducted by the Homicide Squad of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, reveals that the victim was assaulted by an unidentified man with a blunt object. At this point, detectives have not identified a subject and a suspect has not been identified or located.

Forensic medicine will reveal the man’s identity and cause of death.
