Coroner identifies victim of fatal shooting on Las Vegas Strip

UPDATE APRIL 28: The Clark County Coroner has identified the deceased victim as Darrell White, 26. White’s death was due to a gunshot wound to the upper body and was classified as homicide.

ORIGINAL STORY
Police are investigating a fatal early morning shootout on the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday that killed one person and injured two others.

Las Vegas City Police Chief Homicide Ray Spencer says a group of men got into a fight around 3 a.m. outside the Hawaiian Market Square on Las Vegas Boulevard near Harmon Avenue.

Shortly thereafter, one of the men in the group started shooting and punching a man who was involved in the altercation before lifting off the scene.

The suspect was identified by police as 25-year-old Malik Frost

According to Spencer, two men tried to track down the suspected shooter Frost, with one throwing a stone at his head.

Then Frost turned and fired three more shots, hitting another man in the leg with a ricochet against a third person. These two men were expected to survive if treatment was given at Sunrise Hospital for the man who was shot in the leg.

According to Spencer, the police arrived within a minute of the shooting and the officers were able to take the shooter into custody at a nearby motel.

Frost was taken to the university hospital where he was treated for his head injury.

Upon his release, he was posted to the Clark County Detention Center on open murder and attempted murder charges.

The identification of the victim and the cause and type of death are published by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

According to police, all of the men involved in the incident were in their twenties and the shooter is believed to be from Las Vegas.
