Boston-based online sports betting giant DraftKings is expanding its presence in Las Vegas with plans to open a new office in the valley that includes its own casino pit, high-tech putting green, and more.
DraftKings’ new office will open at UnCommons in southwest Las Vegas in early 2022, and the company expects to employ more than 1,000 people at the location. The Las Vegas office will be the company’s second largest office in the United States and will be modeled on its Boston headquarters.
Plans for the 90,000-square-foot space include a bespoke casino training pit, interactive putt-view putting green, and other on-site amenities such as manicures, pedicures, and haircuts.
“Our new office space and expansion in Las Vegas is another example of DraftKings’ investment in its people and the future of the company and the local community,” said Matt Kalish, co-founder and president of DraftKings North America, in a statement. “Our goal is to create another world class work environment that will fuel DraftKings innovation, further strengthen our local presence and deepen community engagement. With these high ambitions, we were thrilled that UnCommons reflected these high standards. “
The $ 400 million, 40-acre UnCommons, under construction near 215 Beltway and Durango Drive, is expected to include more than 500,000 square feet of office space and more than 800 residential units.
Jim Stuart, partner at UnCommons developer Matter Real Estate Group, said DraftKings’ vision for the office shows what the future of jobs will be in a post-pandemic world, places that “rely heavily on convenience, employee engagement and a reason , if not the desire to turn up in the office again. “
“DraftKings is in a very competitive industry right now, and I think their focus on employee experience not only represents the nifty culture they have re-created, but probably goes a long way in winning the battle for talent,” said Stuart .
DraftKings was founded in 2012 and has made a name for itself as one of the greatest forces in everyday fantasy sports. The company opened its first Las Vegas office in January 2020 and quickly moved to expand its presence in the city.
The company signed a multi-year agreement to be the main sponsor of the UNLV Center for Gaming Innovation at the university’s International Gaming Institute, a contract that included the opening of a Draftkings Gaming Innovation Studio on campus.
In March, the company agreed to buy VSiN, a Las Vegas-based sports betting broadcaster that is run by long-time broadcaster Brent Musburger.
