LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said a home in the central valley was badly damaged after a fire on Saturday.

At around 1:30 p.m. on April 24, a heavy fire was reported in a one-story house and large garage in the back yard at 709 W. Adams Ave., near Washington Avenue and I-15.

Officials said the fire started on the west side of the house, then the wind pushed the fire between the house and the garage and spread it. The damage was estimated at $ 100,000. The cause of the fire was not yet known on Saturday afternoon.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters, three adults and two children, were displaced as a result of the fire. Officials later said they had been evacuated and taken refuge in a nearby church. The American Red Cross was contacted to help them.

Officials said Saturday is a red flag day, meaning high winds can increase the likelihood of multiple alarm fires.

The Clark County and North Las Vegas Fire Departments also helped put out the fire.
