LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman says Las Vegas would be the best place for the Republican National Convention in 2024.
The RNC sent letters to select nationals asking about their interest in hosting the 2024 national convention, and Goodman did not hesitate to express support from Las Vegas, the city said.
“For me, this request is not about politics, it is about bringing millions of dollars in convention business back into our local economy,” said Goodman. “Nobody does conventions and conferences better than Las Vegas, and our community is ready for this big economic boost.”
“When thousands of delegates gather in town and spend a lot of money, it’s great for the city,” said Steven Budin, Channel 13 finance specialist, said.
With over 155,000 hotel rooms in the immediate vicinity and up-to-date, tech-savvy meeting rooms, the mayor believes that few cities can keep up.
“Assuming we are over the COVID-19 pandemic, I have full faith and confidence that Vegas will move forward with its A-game,” said Budin.
National political conventions have projected host cities around $ 200 million in positive economic impacts, according to the city.
“Every time Las Vegas is mentioned on a national level, we benefit. It would be a great opportunity for us to promote the city not only domestically but also around the world, ”said Budin.
Goodman expects the Democratic National Committee will also be in contact to hold its national convention in Las Vegas and would be very welcome too.
Formal applications to the RNC are due no later than December 1, 2021 for the three-day convention that will take place in summer 2024.

“We are honored to bid for the 2024 Republican Presidential Conference in Las Vegas. This is a great opportunity for our city and state to bring business back to the convention capital of the world. Aside from hosting the Republican Congress, it’s about bringing hundreds of millions of dollars to Nevada. We looked forward to the opportunity to present this in 2020 and are confident that Las Vegas is the place to be to hold the convention in 2024. Our state has the highest unemployment rate in the country in the past two months. We need economic stimulus and this convention would certainly give an economic boost. “
