Zappos and the Las Vegas community will pay tribute to the late legend Tony Hsieh tomorrow and through Sunday morning – on his 48th birthday.

“Tony Hsieh’s Community Celebration of Life is just that – an opportunity for the community he loved to honor his legacy,” said Scott Schaefer, interim director and VP of Finance at Zappos. “Zappos comes together with DTP Companies and The City of Las Vegas, all companies he has made a lasting impact, to nurture the human connections Tony valued by having fun and entertainment in Downtown Las Vegas, the city he called maybe a little bit of madness created home. “

During the day, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. PT on the campus in the city center, Zappos organizes a personal event by invitation only, which is also broadcast here via livestream.

It will involve a renaming of the Zappos Council Chambers, now known as the “Tony Hsieh Theater”. The event also marks the launch of the Tony Hsieh Award – hosted by TED Talk speaker Keith Ferrazzi – as well as a series of short inspirational lectures.

Hsieh’s close friends and former Zappos managers Fred Mossler and Alfred Lin will attend the event, as will Jewel, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and other big names.

At night, the action shifts to the Downtown Container Park, which Hsieh opened in 2012 as part of his extensive downtown project.

The e-commerce and entrepreneur visionary died in Connecticut last November of the aftermath of a house fire.
