Some of the e-gates at Terminal 3 at McCarran International Airport will reopen after being closed for over a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The gates will serve Alaska Airlines and Frontier Airlines flights this weekend, the airport said in a tweet.

“After more than a year of closure, Gates E8-E15 at Terminal 3 will reopen on Saturday,” said the tweet from McCarran’s verified account. “In preparation, our team was busy cleaning, refilling, replacing and testing devices.”

Although the 14-gate terminal had not seen any flight operations since last year, the ticketing lobby, baggage claim, multi-storey car park and the primary checkpoint were never closed.

Passenger traffic has grown steadily over the past year, with 3.5 million travelers passing the McCarran gates in May, the last month with data available.
