The newest National Hockey League (NHL) franchise is the newest roster to have a non-fungible token (NFT) collection up for auction.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights NHL team is betting on the NFT madness and throwing its hat in the ring. The team announced Thursday that an NFT collection would be auctioned, which includes seven unique digital collectibles. The auction is currently live and will run until Sunday 4th July.

In a statement on their website from VP and Global Head of NFTs Joe Conyers, the Golden Knights stated that the franchise “is always exploring new, innovative ways to excite our fans. We see NFTs as an emerging area that has generated significant interest and momentum over the past few months. “

The Vegas Gold Collection

The digital collection consists not only of the seven unique NFTs, but also of 1,500 pure digital versions of the coin collector’s item “GOLD DRIP”. Each coin sells for $ 50 apiece, not auctioned. According to the official listing, the only NFT available for direct purchase has a design inspired by medieval treasure hunts and Gothic architecture. All 1,500 Gold Drip Collection NFTs are 5-second loops of gold coins embossed with the Golden Knights logo falling through space. The coins are marked with a quatrefoil, which has long been a symbol of bringing luck and prosperity to those who issue it. The coins also feature 16 Vegas starts on the front and back, which is meant to symbolize the number of wins required from the start of the NHL playoffs to the Stanley Cup final. The coins are also designed to go with the Las Vegas theme.

As for the rest of the NFT collection, there are seven other designs on offer, but only one of them is available for sale. Each NFT has been minted by the Crypto.org blockchain team and contains a unique serial number that protects property and certifies scarcity.

The seven NFTs to be auctioned not only offer bidders the opportunity to own a piece of digital art history, but also various VIP perks. The NFT “Shoot Your Shot” contains a complete set of warm-up pucks from the 2020-21 season and a pair of tickets for a VGK home game. The “Vegas Baby” auction meanwhile offers a tour behind the scenes of the T-Mobile Arena including a Zamboni ride. Starting bids for the seven unique items started at $ 2,000, with current bids around $ 2,500.
