LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Newsflash: It’s hot in Las Vegas.

According to the National Weather Service in Las Vegas, the temperature in Sin City hit an all-time high at 5:12 p.m. on July 10, when McCarran International Airport recorded a temperature of 117 degrees.

This sets the all-time record of July 24, 1942. This record was set three times in the last two decades, the last time on June 20, 2017.

NV Energy, Nevada’s largest electricity company, is urging customers to save electricity by Sunday evening as the heat wave and forest fires affect transmission lines across the region.

The news of record high temperatures in Las Vegas comes amid heat waves in the western United States, including some that created record temperatures in the Pacific Northwest.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
