The wedding industry is booming in Las Vegas.
Clark County officials anticipate a sharp increase in the number of couples who say “yes” as they prepare to issue the county’s five millionth marriage certificate.
County Clerk Lynn Goya and the Las Vegas Wedding Chamber of Commerce shared milestone details on Wednesday evening at their annual State of the Wedding Industry event in the Copa Room in the Bootlegger Bistro.
“I think it’s a big deal that we’re finally on the rise after 20 years,” said Goya, who oversees the county’s marriage license office.
It’s no surprise the pandemic tainted the Las Vegas wedding industry last year.
The office issued 56,331 marriage licenses in 2020, compared to 73,143 licenses in 2019. However, the industry is expecting a rapid recovery thanks to a number of special events and branding activities.
Goya said the county has issued 45,200 marriage licenses. If it continues to average more than 6,000 marriage licenses per month, it will “be on the way up for the first time in 20 years, apart from LVCVA’s What Happens Here Stays Here” campaign and the two years thereafter – Sex couples have been issued (licenses), ”she said.
Goya said the focus this year will be on a year-long tribute to love and romance through a campaign called “Five Million Love Stories” linked to the county, which will open sometime between December 2020 and February 14, 2022 Issues five millionth marriage license.
“We have a lot of really exciting things planned,” said Goya. “The bigger we do, the more things we do … the more couples we will get.”
A greater presence at large trade fairs and congresses will be the focus through promotional videos and displays.
The office’s first foray into the convention business will be at the US Travel Association’s IPW conference next month. The annual international inbound travel exhibition brings together international and domestic suppliers of US travel products and destinations.
Fashion Show Senior Marketing Manager Esther Sarpong did a kind of scavenger hunt for tourists and locals to visit eight destinations across Las Vegas.
“As they were jumping around town, they received a special award for a special way of celebrating love,” she said.
Participants are encouraged to take a photo and share it on their social media, including Instagram and Facebook.
Sarpong said the locations are still to be determined, but some casinos like Caesars Palace will participate as well as the Chapel of the Flowers, which will create a new sign similar to the iconic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, but with the phrase ” Married “. in Las Vegas. “
Goya said it is also working with the Nevada Preservation Foundation to create a series of exhibits, speaker series, and even a bus tour on weddings in Vegas.
“We’re going to reach out to everyone in the world and say, ‘If you got married in Las Vegas, send us your stories, send us your pictures,” she said. “We will make you part of our history because you are part of our history and part of what made Las Vegas what it is today.”
