LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A Las Vegas woman faces animal cruelty on two occasions after police said her two dogs were locked in a garage when the outside temperature was 111 degrees.
Metro police said they answered a call from homeowner Iesha Hill, 30, at a home on Inland Court around 3 p.m. Monday.
Hill told animal rights officials about her two dogs, Dice, a 4-year-old Pit Bull Terrier; and Diamond, a 1-year-old Pit Bull Terrier, both died in their garage Sunday night, Hill’s arrest report said.
According to the police, the dogs had been held in the garage “for a long time”. There was also no food or water when the officers examined, they said in the report.
One dog had cuts on its snout, suggesting it was trying to dig into the concrete floor “to find cooler air,” the report said.
Police said it appears that both dogs died of heat exhaustion and that the deaths “were due to continuous and persistent neglect,” the report said.
Hill should be on trial Tuesday.
