LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – A milestone for the MSG Sphere Las Vegas. The completion of the steel dome roof structure will be celebrated with a topping-out ceremony on Friday.

13 Action News got an early glimpse into the project’s progress to see the state-of-the-art venue take shape.

From the outside, you get a feel for the size and scale of the spherical structure. When it’s done, it will be 516 feet wide, 366 feet high, and completely covered in 580,000 square feet of programmable LED lighting.

Inside, the main bowl is a feast for the eyes. The arched roof requires no supports due to its design and was built from six million pounds of steel. The dome roof is also covered with an LED screen, the largest in the world, spanning more than three soccer fields.

Guests will be the focus of this immersive venue. Between stadium seats, suites and standing room, the ball will have a capacity of 20,000 people, all of whom are facing the stage.

Perhaps the best view in the building is from level eight. From the top floor you can see the advanced architecture and engineering of the sphere at full size.

The project is expected to be completed sometime in 2023.
