LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – The wedding capital of the world lives up to its name once again, as almost 1,000 couples got married in Las Vegas on Saturday.

Hundreds of brides were walking down the aisle, ready to say, “Yes.”

Couples like Bernard and Latisha Lively, who have been together since 2018, took the plunge.

“I knew she was the right one before she knew I was the right one,” said Bernard.

The Livelys are one of the hundreds of couples who tie the knot in Las Vegas.

“It was very easy here. Just call, go to the licensing office and they’ll have a great time there, ”said Latisha. “It was very easy here. Quite simply, stress-free. “

Many came for the special date on April 3rd, 21st. For the Livelys, that was an unexpected benefit.

“The clerk said: ‘You know, tomorrow is 3rd April 21st?’ and I think, ‘I didn’t even think about it, but wow!’ “said Latisha.

For other couples, like Jacob and Raven Lynch, that was their plan all along.

“Cool date and coronavirus,” said Jacob. “I was just tired of trying to plan it at home and cut people who can and can’t come, so we decided to do it here.”

The Lynchs and Livelys got married at Little Vegas Chapel, which got married all day in a row on Saturday.

To accommodate the dozen of couples getting married, Little Vegas Chapel created a pop-up area just for today.

About 40 couples were married in the chapel – a welcome busy weekend after a difficult year for the wedding industry.

“This time last year it would have been an empty building,” said Michael Kelly of Little Vegas Chapel. “That’s why we’re happy that today is one of the busiest days of the year.”

Kelly says the wedding industry is resilient and they expect even busier weekends for the rest of the year.

“It’s great that things are opening up again and that we can be a part of it,” said Kelly. “A lot of couples are just super excited to be married.”

This includes couples like the Lively’s who say it will be their first and last marriage.

“It’s kind of hard to run away now, you know? You can’t do that, ‘said Bernard.
