LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – The home opener of the Las Vegas Raiders regular season during Monday Night Football had a huge turnout with more than 61,000 fans at Allegiant Stadium.
Thousands of fans representing silver and black flocked to sports betting on the Strip and at downtown sports bars.
Business owners in the valley say they benefited from taking over the Raider Nation and got a taste of what Monday night football is all about.
Andrew Northam, Hennessey’s regional manager of the tavern, said his location on Fremont Street is a hotspot to watch the Raiders play. He said they filled almost every seat with fans and saw a sharp increase in pedestrian traffic compared to a typical Monday night.

“Since we opened, we’ve seen a lot of people come to the game, wear their shirts, and then come back after the game. So it was a huge influence for us, ”said Northam.
On an average Monday, Northam said they had between $ 4,000 and $ 5,000 in sales. They made more than $ 9,000 on Monday night. He said staying in an NFL city was vital to our local economy.
“I think when it takes over football, it will really take off, just like the Vegas Golden Knights did when they came out a few years ago,” said Northam. “I think it’ll just be an addition to what we’re looking at.”
Therapy is less than 30 meters from Hennessey’s Tavern. Maria Horta, director of operations and marketing, said their business was less busy during the game than usual. They were only about 50% full and didn’t have a lot of sales while the raiders were in action.
“It was a little less than normal Mondays,” said Horta. “On this last Monday we sold around 25 to 30% less than the previous Monday.”

Horta was shocked when this happened to her business, she predicted that she would almost double her profits, but she said that the companies around her could be to blame.
“I think the best place to see the games is in the casinos, people are betting and they are excited about the first game so I think that was the dominator for that,” said Horta.
Only after the game was Horta able to make up for what was lost. She said that starting Monday, she could get a better feel for how to prepare for the next home game.
