Amid the lockdown caused by COVID-19, many stores and restaurants remained closed last year, and when easings were allowed on the reopening of hotels and restaurants, staff worked tirelessly to serve customers. In an incredible gesture to his staff, a restaurant owner in Louisville invited his staff on a trip to Las Vegas.
Ramen House, a Japanese restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky, posted a photo on Facebook of employees arriving at the airport for a trip together. Jonathan Ham, the owner of the Ramen House, decided to close his restaurant for a week to give his staff a well-deserved break. She uploaded a Facebook photo of her employees, who are sitting in the airport waiting room before they travel, to inform her customers about the one-week closure of the outlet.
The restaurant is closed for one week
“Sorry, we’re closed this week. Our employees have worked so hard and diligently through all the crazy times we have been through. You deserve a break. So we decided to take them to Vegas, ”they wrote the caption.
The post drew a lot of attention online, with the post garnering over 2,000 likes and around 1.5 thousand shares, as well as multiple comments from Facebook users. “This is a fantastic way to show your co-workers how much you value them !!” commented one user.
12 employees were taken to Las Vegas, others were compensated
Almost a dozen employees took part in the vacation, according to restaurant owner Jonathan Ham, who paid for plane tickets and hotels. Some staff were unable to attend, but Ham said they were being compensated. He believes that people are the most valuable resource any business, especially a restaurant, can own, and that’s why he tries to put that much money into his people.
In the Mid-City Mall in the Highlands, the restaurant is located between a cinema and a library. However, the owners of the restaurant are currently located in Las Vegas, halfway across the country. The core crew in Vegas helped open the restaurant in 2019.
