Pinball machines have been around since the 1930s. The early versions were very simple. They were basic ball and pinball configurations. It didn’t take long for them to switch to more complicated electromechanical machines with tons of motors, relays, etc. to get the machine working.

In the late 60s / early 70s, machines began with a digital solid-state inner workings. Digital allowed them to get much more complicated in using real voices and sounds to play back.

Today’s machines have a lot more space on the field compared to the early 1930s. The current machines have ramps, digital displays, interactive props, and more.

It will be interesting to see where they go from here.

The Pinball Hall of Fame Museum in Las Vegas is 25,000 square feet of nostalgic arcade quality. They opened on April 15th, 2021 at their new location at 4925 Las Vegas Blvd South, Las Vegas NV 89119.

You are opposite the classic “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign. If you love pinball do yourself a favor and give them a try.
