Week 13 Reality Checks: Washington at Las Vegas

The Washington Football team is about 8 weeks away from having a new name. They have a week before a new season if they can take care of business in week 13. With rumors circulating about this name, it’s relatively incredible that once you had the start of the team, the product on the field is still relevant this season.

When the schedule first came out, most fans looked at the gauntlet of the quarterbacks that Washington was about to face and wondered if they would be able to play with anything at the five NFC East end-of-season games .

After a 2-6 start, the discussion of anything but draft position had left the conversation of all but the most blindly optimistic fans. But Washington ripped off three dominant performances (in the flow of the game if not on the scoreboard) and got back into the playoff picture. With Dallas recently tussling, it is even possible that Washington will have another run for the NFC East title later this season.

The only NFC team to go undefeated in November.
Currently a playoff team.

But the work is not done. Not nearly.

The odds are still high on both points, but the dynamism is increasing and with it the expectations. The question now is whether Washington can withstand the pressures of increased expectations. Can you extend your winning streak to 4 after saying goodbye?

The parity of the NFL keeps bad teams “relevant” every year. But only the good teams use this relevance and become real competitors. Will the WFT face this opportunity and make a competitive push, or will the current three-game winning streak just end up being a slip on the radar?
