Tuesday has been a year since Las Vegas City Police Officer Shay Mikalonis was shot and killed during a protest on the Las Vegas Strip sparked by the death of George Floyd. The police said the alleged shooter did not participate in the protests. It’s also been a year since Jorge Gomez was shot dead by four officers during a similar protest in downtown. The prosecution has decided not to indict the officers involved.
