Nevada is one of the top 10 states negatively affected by a lack of business travel during the pandemic, and that is having an impact on the hospitality industry.

A new report shows that Las Vegas hotels are expected to lose more than $ 1.65 billion in business travel revenue this year – a decrease of more than 70% from 2019.

The American Hotel & Lodging Association reported that people who travel frequently for work are still scaling back their plans due to COVID-19 concerns. With business travel being the largest source of income for hotels, the association estimates Nevada will lose more than 50,000 hotel jobs in 2021.

The association calls on Congress to pass the Save Hotel Jobs Act, co-sponsored by US Senator Jacky Rosen. The proposed law contains provisions aimed at providing laid-off hotel workers with a route back to work and improving safety at work.
