11/16/2021 – 23:52 UTC

Jetlines (CJL, Vancouver Int’l) has announced that it will start operations in March 2022, albeit initially as a virtual airline chartered an A320-200 from GLOBALX (GXA, Miami Int’l), its former parent company.

The Canadian airline’s in-house travel division, Canada Jetlines Vacations, will charter an A320-200 from GLOBALX and sell seats for public charter flights from Toronto Pearson to Miami International and Fort Lauderdale International. The partnership begins in March 2022 (ticket sales are expected to begin December 2021), subject to receipt of all regulatory approvals, including approval from the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), and initially only lasts six weeks.

Canada Jetlines announced that it will take over the routes after completing certification as an airline and operate them with in-house A320-200 aircraft.

08/06/2021 – 01:10 UTC

The U.S. Department of Transportation issued a certificate of public convenience and necessity for interstate charter flights to Florida’s GLOBALX (GXA, Miami Int’l ) from operator certificate (AOC).

After receiving both approvals, the start-up applied to DOT to waive the usual six-day waiting period before the decision came into force. The airline stressed that not only does it have all the necessary certificates to start operations immediately, but it also has sufficient funds as it has eliminated its previous negative balance and paid all pre-operational start-up costs.

GLOBALX’s AOC authorizes scheduled flights from Atlantic City, Miami International and Punta Cana. His DOT certificate initially limits its fleet to two aircraft with a mandatory 45-day notice period if GLOBALX plans to expand its fleet beyond this number. The airline will initially operate one A320-200 and one A321-200, although it has preliminary plans to add two more A320-200s …
