LAS VEGAS (KTNV) – Hearts Alive Village Las Vegas announced that it is just months ahead of the official opening of the Hearts Alive Village Horse Rescue & Sanctuary, the first of its kind in Las Vegas.

The nonprofit says plans for a horse rescue and sanctuary accelerated when Hearts Alive Village learned of Annie, a beautiful, malnourished, and neglected horse, and her dire condition.

Annie was found abandoned and starved to death next to her late sister, along with five goats and a dog.

All seven animals were in dire need of homes, food and medical care. Hearts Alive Village says it can’t say no and knows something needs to be done immediately.

“These poor creatures were in dire straits and we have stepped in to give them a brand new life in which they will never be vulnerable again,” said Christy Stevens, founder and CEO of Hearts Alive Village. “We are happy to report that Annie and the other animals are doing incredibly well with the help of our great Hearts Alive Village Horse Rescue Team and Desert Pines Equine. Annie has put on over 150 pounds in the 14 days she’s on our team! “

Now Hearts Alive Village says it is busy building its Horse Rescue facility on over four and a half acres just minutes from US 95 in Kyle Canyon.

The stable, which is slated to open this fall, will be equipped with a state-of-the-art environment, including horse stalls, to make on-site veterinary care safe and efficient.

In addition to Annie and her friends, the new facility will offer even more space for goats, donkeys, pigs and other pets.
