Even before the Atomic Saloon Show begins, a spirit of contagious fun wafts through the crowd. The setting, which looks like a Wild West saloon, with an audience both at floor level and on the balconies, immediately makes you want to have a great time. And when the singing cowboy comes out and belts out one of the slippiest melodies you’ve ever heard, you’re in it.
The show, produced by Spiegelworld, follows the thinnest of storylines – a love story, yawn! – but is completely unimportant for the process. It’s more of a framework in which various artists play out their talents, from cheeky nuns to hand balancers to super sexy acrobats. Putting it all together is host Boozy Skunkton, the filthy owner of the saloon who doesn’t shy away from insulting various viewers.
Anyone who has already been to Absinthe at Spiegelworld’s other strip production has a good idea of what to expect at Atomic: an everything-goes-apolitically correct good time. And before you sit down, be sure to get a drink at the bar: alcohol is practically a must here!
