LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – It’s time to play ball!

Major league baseball has been in action for a little over a month, but today minor league baseball is back.

It’s both the season and the home opener for the Las Vegas Aviators.

Like other minor league teams, the Aviators haven’t played since 2019.

That’ll change tonight when they face the Sacramento River Cats at 7 p.m.

Imagine feeling the excitement all over again. The bases were loading … and waiting for a goddamn victory.

The Las Vegas Ballpark is allowed to have 50% capacity for each game – approximately 5,000 fans.

All of minor league baseball kicks off the 2021 season with a new schedule and new travel rules while the pandemic continues.

The teams play against one team every week.

Usually they only play three or maybe four games at a time. Now they play a team for six games.

Wednesdays are reserved for the trip.

There are 120 games on the program. Half of them will be at home and the other half will be away.

The Aviators are in their 39th season. They are the longest running franchise in professional sports history in Nevada.
