The investigation began in January when the victim, a woman from the New Smyrna Beach area, reported that she had been ripped off. MPs said the woman received a call from a stranger claiming to be a computer expert in New York. He said the hackers stole her information and that investigators said she had to send him $ 20,000.

The victim sent the check, but a woman later called her claiming she was from the sheriff’s office. Records show that the woman asked the victim for $ 21,000. Both controls were carried out according to the information provided by the MPs from Sorgatz.
Detectives tracked the checks on Sorgatz’s accounts and found they were deposited in Las Vegas. Las Vegas investigators received surveillance video from the bank branch and identified Sorgatz, records show.
Sorgatz has been arrested for theft and is being held without bail as he waits to travel to central Florida.
Investigators said they confiscated two accounts from the accused fraudster, valued at $ 48,000, and told the victim that their money would be returned.
