LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – While couples flocking to Las Vegas to get married is nothing new, there is a COVID wedding boom and Clark County and wedding venue companies are noticing that elopements seem to be on everyone’s lips.

“As more and more people are being vaccinated and encouraged to travel again, we have just been bombed. We beat 2019 numbers, which has been a really good year for us, “said Lynn Goya, Clark County Clerk.

Cactus Collective Weddings owner Mckenzi Taylor says she has seen an increase in people contacting her company about their wedding plans.

“I think what happens this year is that there is such a backlog of weddings because people had to postpone or postpone, but now people think maybe I should just run away,” said Taylor. “We are sure to see an increase in the numbers!”

People like Robert Baird from California say they’ve been planning their wedding for a while, and now is just the right time to make it official.

“We have set up a chapel and will have the wedding ceremony there,” Baird told 8 News Now. “Just a small meeting and then we’ll have a bigger wedding at a more relaxed time in terms of Covid lockdowns.”

Taylor says although her interest has increased, she is finding that more and more people want to blow away because venues are still so hard to find.

“People have postponed so long that now there are only excess people engaged that there are no venues or resources for people to celebrate their weddings.”
