LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – It’s Memorial Day weekend and 37 million people are expected to travel for the three-day holiday weekend.
According to AAA Travel, 34 million will take to the streets at the unofficial start of summer and more than 2 million will travel by plane.
60 percent more Americans are expected to fly compared to that time last year when the US closed due to the pandemic
Thousands of people are expected to visit Las Vegas. It’s one of the most popular places to visit as the pandemic restrictions are easing.
Over the past few weeks, crowds have returned to the Las Vegas Strip.
“When it comes to Memorial Day, Las Vegas is the second most popular place, right behind Orlando and third behind Honolulu, Hawaii. It’s going to be a tough weekend for Las Vegas. We expect lots of people to come and enjoy what Las Vegas has to offer, ”said Sergio Avila, AAA Nevada.
He says it is important to research your destination before traveling to find out about changes in services or local COVID rules.
Memorial Day, Monday, is also the last day of most of Clark County’s restrictions.
