We asked tourists if the city felt like “Vegas” again.
John of Minnesota said, “It’s beginning. It’s beginning.”
While the city was open to visitors, many things were still closed or there were COVID-19 logs up until that point.
Memorial Day is the first major public holiday that many of these restrictions were lifted.
“This is the first time it has opened after COVID-19 and we are all excited. Las Vegas is great! It’s a lot of fun and we’re enjoying the long weekend, ”said Mira from Chicago.
Locals and tourists alike benefit from the Las Vegas sunshine and mask-free, for those who are fully vaccinated. Companies say they have seen a significant upturn this weekend.
“Even during the day, it’s usually slower on weekends, but this weekend has been full,” said John, Chippendale promotional employee on Fremont Street.
What do you expect after June 1st?
“I think it will be pretty similar, but now that it is 100% busy I think there will be a lot more people. We are very happy,” said John.
People celebrated weddings, birthdays and more as the city went back to normal.
“We decided to come to Vegas because I’ve never been here before. I’ve always been in Atlantic City and really wanted to come to Vegas for the big 30 and celebrate Memorial Day weekend.
