The Las Vegas Strip has seen countless changes over the years, with old hotels demolished and new resorts built in their place. A single hotel has proven itself.
The Flamingo Las Vegas, opened by Bugsy Siegel in 1946, remains an eye-catcher in the center of the strip. The hotel, now owned by Caesars Entertainment, has a number of specials to mark its 75th anniversary.
“With 75 years of rich history, including some of the entertainment industry’s biggest names on the famous Strip, Flamingo Las Vegas has continued to develop and thrive, despite the fact that most of the resorts built around its era are long gone,” Dan Walsh said , Senior Vice President and General Manager of Flamingo Las Vegas, said in a statement.
Special room rates
The hotel, which turns 75 on December 26, is offering a variety of specials to celebrate the milestone for customers, starting with some heavily discounted rates at the 3,500-room hotel.
Customers have two options:
- Stay in a Standard Garden, City, or High Roller View Room for 2 nights for $ 75.
- Stay in a Mini-Suite or Premium Room for one night for $ 75.
In both cases, customers must book by December 22nd and travel by March 3rd. Some dates, including most weekends, are not part of the promotion.
The Flamingo is also running a social media competition with a number of prize packages being raffled off. Former guests are asked to share a photo of a favorite flamingo memory, tag @FlamingoVegas on Instagram, and use the hashtags # 75YearsofFab and #Sweepstakes by December 13th.
Winners will be selected to win a 2-day hotel stay, $ 300 food and drink credit, $ 250 spa credit, two tickets to a show, and tickets to the nearby high roller.
Current show offerings at the hotel include Wayne Newton, Piff the Magic Dragon, RuPaul’s Drag Race Live and the adult-only X Burlesque.
Weddings
Couples can get $ 75 off a wedding package for ceremonies held through January.
The hotel has three outdoor locations for ceremonies amid palm trees, waterfalls and gardens. There is also an indoor location with a garden theme.
Appreciation of the team members
The hotel will honor its employees as part of the celebrations and hold a daily raffle for prizes and an overnight stay for a winner.
“At the heart of the resort’s continued success are our dedicated team members, many of whom have called the flamingo home for over 30 years,” said Walsh. “We look forward to showing our gratitude and celebrating this milestone with our team members, guests, partners and the community.”
Vacation theme
The anniversary happens randomly while the hotel is celebrating the holiday season. By January 2nd, it had become a public holiday.
The Flamingo Wildlife Habitat is adorned with pink and white lights and other ornaments.
A pop-up holiday bar will be open around a fire pit every weekend.
Bars and restaurants throughout the hotel serve a range of special vacation-themed drinks, including Bad Santa, a traditional hot chocolate and marshmallow drink with a little whiskey.
