A Frontier Airlines flight from Las Vegas to San Antonio made an emergency landing on Thursday evening after a “medical emergency for passengers and a fume event,” according to media reports.

A spokesman told KTSM 9 News in El Paso that the plane landed safely at El Paso International Airport. Several units of the El Paso Fire Department responded to the landing and six people were given medical examinations.

KTSM reported that emergency services staff on scanners said the flight’s passengers were exposed to a “possible carbon monoxide leak,” but it is unclear whether this was the reason the plane crashed.

A fume event occurs when heated engine oil leaks into an aircraft’s air supply.

Passengers were given a $ 200 travel voucher and flown back to San Antonio on another flight, the spokesman told KTSM.
