LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – Welcome back to Las Vegas! We are all excited to see Las Vegas come back to life and expect many visitors this holiday weekend.
The shops on the Strip look forward to seeing visitors again this busy weekend.
“We want to have fun, we want to see different people,” said Sade Thomas, who was visiting from Virginia. “The weather feels good, that’s why we came here.”
Las Vegas is coming back to life.
“We were both vaccinated, so we’re feeling good about going back to normal after a year of failure,” said Dawn Hall, who was visiting from North Carolina.
April tourism figures released on Thursday show that Las Vegas is recovering quickly.
Companies notice it.
Chayo Mexican Kitchen on Linq Promenade welcomes the onslaught of visitors. Deputy Manager Greg Waters says the town is starting to feel normal.
“Business has picked up, I mean, we’re now at 2019 levels,” said Waters. “We are crushed every weekend. This Memorial Day weekend, we expect to be a crazy house all weekend. “
Economists say government incentives mixed with pent-up demand are making Las Vegas’ recovery stronger than expected.
Priceline forecast Las Vegas to be the number one travel destination in the United States for Memorial Day Weekend.
“The quotes, unquoted experts came out with statements that it would be two years, three years before Vegas recovered, that’s not the case,” said Tony Carnevale of Carnevale Gallery. “We’re seeing a steady flow of people and, thank God, business is going in that direction.”
Carnevale owns the Carnevale Gallery in the Caesars Forum. He took advantage of the pandemic and turned the never-before-seen calm of the city into works of art.
Now he is happy to see Las Vegas shine again.
“Unprecedented memories created by this experience that I hope we will never have to live again,” said Carnevale.
Business owners say Las Vegas will get busier now with the Golden Knights playing at home on Friday. They say it will be hectic but everyone is looking forward to it.
