EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – The New York Giants improved to 3-6 on Sunday with a 23:16 beating 5-3 Las Vegas Raiders at MetLife Stadium.

A Quincy Roche sack / fumble by Derek Carr, retrieved by Leonard Williams at the Giants 23-yard line with 37 seconds of play, sealed the win for New York.

Roche defeated Las Vegas with the right tackle Brandon Parker and released the ball from Carr. He said he forcefully attacked Parker for most of the game, but there was a speed frenzy there.

“I wanted to play on power most of the time, but this drive wanted to give up, wanted to swap for a good player and I knocked him around the corner,” said Roche. “He’s a great player. It was a great game. “

The Giants led after a 38-yard field goal from Graham Gano with 3:21 to the game with 23-16. The Raiders drove to the Giants ’13-yard line before Roche’s game and Williams’ recovery sealed victory.

Xavier McKinney had two interceptions in the second half for the Giants, one that he returned 41 yards for a touchdown and one that put the Giants in midfield, leading to Gano’s final field goal.

The win ended a difficult week for the Giants. They played a short week after losing to the Kansa City Chiefs on Monday and then had some unsafe days marked by a series of false positive COVID-19 tests that resulted in players at the end of the game were unsure and who was not week.

“There was a lot of floating parts this week,” said head coach Joe Judge. “We have a very resilient team, we have a mentally very strong team.”

“We just don’t blink. We just didn’t blink. We did everything we were asked to do. We did everything, ”said Giants tight end Evan Engram. “We had to jump through all the loopholes and all that stuff and we didn’t blink. The trainers did a really good job of navigating everything and allowing us to be smart and safe but still get our job done and we just handled it as best we could. “

This was only the second time in Judge’s two seasons as head coach that the Giants won a game when they were trailing at halftime. In these situations they stand 2-15. Three wins are the most the Giants have achieved after nine games since the 2016 season.

Giants inactive

RB Saquon Barkley (ankle)
LB Lorenzo Carter (ankle)
DB Nate Ebner (ankle)
WR Sterling Shepard (Quad)
LB Oshane Ximines

Ximines as a healthy scratch is interesting. The 2019 third round election had a costly mistake against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday when his offside penalty negated an interception by Darnay Holmes. Ximines has seen limited playtime in the past few weeks. With rookie Edge Elerson Smith active on Sunday, Quincy Roche playing a bigger role, and Trent Harris being kicked off the training roster, you wonder how often we’ll see Ximines in the second half of the season.

What’s next?

The Giants have a goodbye in Week 10. In Week 11, they’ll get a second Monday Night Football opportunity to take to the streets and get a 2020 Super Bowl team out of the way. After the Giants narrowly missed a chance to piss off AFC Champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8, the Giants travel to Raymond James Stadium for a Monday night duel with Tom Brady and Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 11 .

The Giants lost a game on Monday night against Tampa Bay with 25:23 last season.
