Heavy rain hits parts of Las Vegas, Pahrump on Monday

Monsoon storms hit Las Vegas, in Clark County, and Pahrump, in Nye County, today.

Several roads have been flooded near the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and in Pahrump.

In the late afternoon the rain pulled back into the Las Vegas valley.

The National Weather Service issues a flood warning for central Clark County.

The city of Las Vegas says its employees are busy cleaning up after Sunday night’s storms.

Remnants of strong winds ️, pouring rain 🌧️ & lightning ⚡ from the storms of this weekend lingered in #Vegas on Monday.

Our crews spent the day cleaning up debris, damaged trees 🌳 and other hazardous materials.

The Regional Transportation Commission says both directions of Rainbow Boulevard are now open on Blue Diamond Road.

The rain is starting to move out of the Pahrump area.

The radar in Pahrump is finally starting to dry up, but the danger of flooding remains. Flashing flood warning for an additional hour with a rain gauge in the area which has been nearly 2 inches since 11:00 a.m. Please remember that most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A flash flood warning was issued for Central Inyo County, including Death Valley, through 5:15 p.m. PDT.

13 o’clock
All district offices in Pahrump and Town of Pahrump will be closed to the public for the remainder of the Monday business day due to severe flooding in various government facilities and on roads.

The closure includes the courts.

People are encouraged not to travel and to avoid Highway 160, Calvada Boulevard, Dandelion Street, and Homestead Road.

12:35 p.m.
Many flooded roads have been reported in the Pahrump area. A flash flood warning was issued for Southern Nye Counties, including Amargosa Valley and Lathrop Wells, through 3:45 p.m. PDT.

12:10 p.m.
North Rainbow Boulevard is closed in both directions on Blue Diamond Road due to flash floods.

The Flash Flood Warning applies to the Pahrump area until 2:45 p.m.

11 am Residents of Calico Basin, near Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, have a hard time getting in and out of the area due to flash floods.

10:30 am
A flash flood warning has been issued for west-central Clark County in southern Nevada.

The warning is valid until 1:30 p.m.

At 10:20 a.m. the Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain in Red Rock Canyon and in the southwest of Las Vegas.
