In 2019, 42 million visitors came to the Las Vegas Strip. That number has dropped to 19 million people in 2020 due to the pandemic closings. Tourism is now recovering despite ongoing health and safety concerns. As Las Vegas casinos and hotels return to normal visitor levels, the amount of waste also increases.
