Members of Impact Las Vegas, a Nevada women’s nonprofit that was in its eighth year of sponsorship, voted on Jan.

The Just One Project was founded in 2014 on the belief that one person, Just One, can change someone else’s life. Over the past three years, The Just One Project has grown to become the largest grocer in Nevada, dedicated to keeping the community connected by inspiring people to get involved, give back and make a difference.

The Just One Project has four programs that drive the organization forward: Community Market, Home Delivered Grocery Program, Pop Up & Give Mobile Market, and Youth Programs. They remove barriers for their customers by not being limited to any selection criteria and they are improving access to groceries by offering multiple days a week, deliveries for all ages and grocery assistance on the weekends.

In 2020, they were able to provide more than 7,000,000 pounds of food to 386,769 residents of southern Nevada.

With a $ 67,000 grant from Impact Las Vegas, The Just One Project will be able to expand its grocery rescue and home delivery program with the purchase of a refrigerated case. A refrigerated box truck will help you collect large donations of food and safely store and transport the food in the refrigeration unit, keep the food at a safe temperature in the warmer months and allow you to make bulk deliveries to customers’ homes.

This funding will result in the recovery of £ 25,000 of groceries from local retailers and partners, and 20,833 meals to be distributed annually to 35,000 customers.

According to Founder and Executive Director Maureen Romito, the $ 67,000 grant for 2021 is a joint donation from sixty Impact Las Vegas members.

In February 2021, Impact Las Vegas received application letters from 77 nonprofits in southern Nevada. Members then narrowed the field down to 16 organizations that had submitted full grant applications. In April, volunteer members of the members rated and rated these applications and selected four semi-finalists for virtual on-site visits in May.

Two finalists gave brief presentations to all members of Impact Las Vegas on June 5, in which each member voted and selected the organization’s eighth grantee.
