Last month the number of buffets was five; There will be eight by the end of this month. At least. Buffets at Wynn and Excalibur reopened last week and Bellagios reopened on Friday.
They join South Point, Cosmopolitan, Caesars Palace, MGM Grand and Circus Circus. All use the standard self-service format, though most don’t serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Who’s next? Last month, Boyd Gaming Station joined in and said it won’t be bringing its buffets back. Caesars Entertainment has hinted the same thing despite the strong response to the bacchanal. It always looks more like the lower end of the range buffets will be the last, if they return at all.
Dollar Dogs: Casino Slots A Fun, located next to Circus Circus, sells hot dogs for $ 1 and draft beers for $ 1 at the bar. They’re not what you’d call top dogs, but it’s good business for the strip. The bar is usually open from 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 p.m. on weekdays, and most of the day on weekends.
Poker room closes: The poker room in Planet Hollywood is closed. The closure of the mid-sized 11-table room follows a decade-long trend that has seen casino tables become an endangered species. However, a new (and bigger) poker room has opened at Resorts World Las Vegas.
Pinball Game: The Pinball Hall of Fame has reopened in its new location at 4925 Las Vegas Blvd. South, a stone’s throw south of the Welcome to Las Vegas sign. It’s open every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and entry is free, but you’ll have to give up some quarters to play the games.
Question: What are the two sloping towers in the CityCenter?
Reply: Collectively called Veer Towers, they attract a lot of attention because of their bright colors and because the two towers lean in different directions. Both are high-end condominiums that are not open to the public. Veer opened in 2010 as part of the original CityCenter complex.
