In an emergency meeting last week, the commissioners of Clark County employees who work in companies in Las Vegas have put mask mandates on whether they have been vaccinated or not.
The decision comes amid a surge in COVID-19 cases and hospital stays in Nevada due to the new Delta variant, which appears to be the most prevalent in the southern part of the state. From now on, non-employed persons do not have to be masked, but that can change at any time.
The casinos have already changed their message and are now encouraging all guests to wear masks, although this is not a rule. The new mandate will be re-examined on August 17th.
Renamed Sands Expo: Starting September 2, the Sands Expo & Convention Center, the fifth largest private convention facility in the country at 2-1 / 4 million square feet, will be known as the Venetian Expo. The name change was not justified, but is certainly related to the upcoming sale of the entire Venetian / Palazzo / Expo property by Las Vegas Sands Corp., which will be completed by the end of the year.
Downtown Sand Dollars: A longtime live music venue in Las Vegas, Sand Dollar Lounge will open a second location in the plaza, bringing live music downtown until late at night. The Sand Dollar Blues Bar opened on Spring Mountain Road near the Strip in 1976 and quickly became one of the best blues bars in the country. Sand Dollar Downtown opens this fall with live music Thursday through Saturday, a full selection of craft cocktails and pizza from Pop Up Pizza.
Question: Can you bet on the Olympics?
Reply: Yes. Sports betting may accept bets on Olympic events that are not decided by a valuation (e.g. diving and gymnastics). It will be up to the books to offer lines if they want, but not all will due to low demand.
