Information has finally surfaced on plans and dates for the return of the Palms, which is one of the few resorts in Las Vegas that didn’t reopen after the pandemic shut down last year.
The delay in opening is due in part to the fact that the new owners, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, are going through the licensing process. That should be completed by the end of the year and open the door to open the doors as early as January.
The resort will reopen as The Palms, although the name may change afterwards. The sports book will be upgraded and most of the food court vendors will stay. Kaos nightclub will remain closed while the tribe ponders what will occupy that space. Paid parking is definitely not in the vision that aims to turn the property into a “Locals Strip Casino”.
New food court: Circus Circus has opened a new food court, which is located in a room that used to be part of the buffet. The food court has a Pick Up Stix, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, Einstein Bros. Bagels, and a Dairy Queen. The buffet is only open on weekends.
Nickel line: The SuperBook in Westgate Las Vegas offers a 5 cent line for World Series games. The lower spread between the prizes of each team that wins lowers the house edge, much like wagering $ 105 to win $ 100, as opposed to the usual $ 110 / $ 100 in football.
Tyson statue: A 3-foot statue of former heavyweight champion and longtime Las Vegas resident Mike Tyson has been erected outside the Mulberry Street Pizzeria in Resorts World. Tyson is the second boxer to be honored in this way, joining the statue of Joe Louis who has featured in Caesars Palace’s sportsbook for decades.
Question: What happened to the Anthony Curtis interview on CBS Mornings about buffets? I looked on the date given in this column and it didn’t work.
Answers: No, it has been pushed back, as often happens with functions that are not time sensitive. A new broadcast date was not announced.
