Passenger traffic at Las Vegas Airport continued to rise in May, according to a report released today.
More than 3.5 million arriving and departing passengers passed through McCarran International Airport last month, about 600,000 more than in April, the Clark County Department of Aviation said.
The May figure was still below the total pre-pandemic passenger count of about 4.6 million in May 2019. But it’s another step for Las Vegas as the tourism-driven economy continues to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.
In May 2020, when air traffic practically stalled in the United States, only about 325,000 passengers passed the McCarran gates.
For the first five months of this year, McCarran reported 12.1 million passengers, a 42% decrease from the same period in 2019.
For the first five months of 2020, the airport reported around 10.6 million passengers.
