The Alamo City is soon to get another sandwich chain in Capriotti’s, a Las Vegas-based sub-outfit known for its signature sandos.

The fast-casual brand announced it would open 51 new U.S. stores this year, including at least one in San Antonio.

Capriotti’s was founded in 1976 and is known for a 40-year tradition of slowly roasting whole, natural turkeys every evening and chopping them by hand every morning. The chain’s best-seller, The Bobbie, consists of locally cooked turkey, cranberry sauce, filling, and mayo on a soft bun.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on exceptional franchise systems whose franchisees generate exceptional returns by selling the tastiest, highest quality food in the industry,” said David Bloom, Capriotti’s chief development and operating officer.

The expansion will take place in the second quarter, but the company has not disclosed details of how many of the new stores will be in San Antonio, nor a timeframe for the Lone Star State expansion.
