While the Delta option has negatively impacted upcoming travel plans for one in four Americans, many are still planning to flee in August.
Broadry analyzed the latest travel search data from Google and found that as hotel occupancy rates declined, some travel destinations continued to dominate the searches of would-be travelers.

Las Vegas
Let’s put it this way: Las Vegas gets an A + for effort. The “entertainment capital of the world,” as they say, is doing everything it can to make a fun comeback thanks to new resorts, attractions and a resurgence of concerts by A-list artists like Bruno Mars, Gwen Stefani and Barry Manilow. Allegiant Stadium has also welcomed fans to events and the iHeart Radio Music Festival is scheduled for September 17-18.
New York City
Hotel room prices have gone down again in New York, but bring your COVID vaccination card with you when you come.
Note: New York City will soon require proof of vaccination for many indoor activities, Broadway shows, indoor performances, and indoor dining.
New York City is slowly recapturing the tourist radar. Broadway shows are about to reopen after a lengthy shutdown (“Hamilton” tickets, please?) And if you want to feast your way around town, restaurant week lasts until August 22nd.

While hotel bookings have declined in part due to concerns about COVID and also the kids returning to school, it’s worth noting that visitors may actually find cheaper hotel rates. This month, the average daily price for a hotel in the city is just over $ 200 (about $ 40 lower than two years ago), according to STR, a global hospitality data and analytics company.
The story goes on
And those venturing outside of the five boroughs can consider a trip to the backcountry to Legoland in Goshen, New York, or Lake George.
The angel
Get a bird’s eye view of Los Angeles on a hike through Bronson Canyon.
California recently launched a massive marketing campaign to encourage tourists to return to the state. Los Angeles keeps its fingers crossed. Discover Los Angeles even did the heavy lifting, putting together a number of pre-built itineraries to help recreational visitors explore all that the city has to offer. Maybe a morning hike in Bronson Canyon, a yoga class or an adrenaline rush with “bodyflying” in the iFly wind tunnel during the CityWalk?
Do you fancy a day trip? San Diego, about a 2½ hour drive from LA, also made the list.
Chicago
Chicago made the list too. . And there is a lot to do here in August. Visitors can take a stroll around Navy Pier on the shores of Lake Michigan, which is home to a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and family attractions. Or visit the Art Institute or the Museum of Science and Industry. Baseball aficionados can also watch the cubs at Wrigley Field and have a bite to eat at Dimo’s on the way back to the hotel.
Tip: Travel bargain hunters can also check Brad’s Deals to find multiple Chicago deals running this month.
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Myrtle Beach offers 60 miles of Atlantic coast and plenty to do. A budget-friendly destination for families, there is a long list of free activities to enjoy, such as listening to live music on the pier on Garden City Beach, visiting local museums, and watching the fireworks on Broadway At The Beach.
Orlando Florida
Orlando never seems to leave the wish list entirely, does it? Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Orlando, and Legoland continue to welcome guests, and local restaurants are at full capacity.
See Visit Orlando for deals. The tourism website has expanded its promotions for attractions and accommodations in the area, including special discounts for first responders. In addition, the Four Seasons Resort Orlando offers guests staying three or more consecutive nights the option to receive a free night.
Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville, the capital of Tennessee and country music, ranks for both high demand and top growth. The city was recently recognized by the World Travel & Tourism Council for its warm and friendly atmosphere and safe destination status.
While the Country Music Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry (both now open) attract music lovers, it’s not just about the tunes. There is also a lot for sports fans. NASCAR is coming to the Nashville Superspeedway in June. And football fans take note: the US men’s national team will face Canada in a qualifying game for the FIFA World Cup on September 5th at the Nissan Stadium.
While the hotel bookings are recovering, this also applies to road tripers. RVshare.com reported an increase in RV rentals in the area this month.
Atlantic City, New Jersey
August is one of the busiest months for this oceanfront gambling and resort center in New Jersey. The famous Steel Pier offers a varied leisure program for visitors of all ages. Enjoy live music and an all-you-can-eat seafood feast every Wednesday in the Ocean Reef Bar. You can also enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and the world famous boardwalk from a seat in the Wheel, a 227 foot tall Ferris wheel enjoy.
