The city of Las Vegas will offer free parking to guests of downtown restaurants through the end of the year to help them recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The testing program, which runs through the end of the year, includes all street meters in the Fremont East District and about a dozen downtown lots bounded by Stewart Avenue to the north, Las Vegas Boulevard to the west, and Carson Avenue to the south and tenth Street to the east.

This area includes the “Row @ Carson Avenue Restaurant,” which the city launched with signs earlier this year to promote dining options in this section of Fremont East.

Free parking is available Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. through December 31st. Drivers should watch out for the “Lunch Spot Parking” signs to see where they can park for free.

The Park on Fremont, El Cortez and Downtown Project are also participating in the free park program by providing their parking spaces, according to the city.

“Downtown has many new and ongoing restaurants for lunch, and the free parking will make it all the more enticing,” the city said in a statement accompanying the announcement of the trial program.

Similarly, the city made downtown parking free on Small Business Saturday last November in the hopes that it would be a boon to local businesses on the annual consumer holiday that promotes local shopping.
