LAS VEGAS (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal crash early Monday morning in the Southwest Valley.
According to police, the collision with a single vehicle occurred at around 3:44 a.m. near Durango and Wigwam.
Police said evidence at the scene and testimony suggested a 1994 Ford Ranger was driving south on Durango Drive and approaching Camero Avenue. According to the police, the Ford left the lane to the right and drove onto the field strip on the west side of the lane.
“The Ford continued south through the strip of field, which ran into a water pipe. The Ford then pulled back into the lane, into the north lanes, and at the intersection with Wigwam Avenue, into the south lanes. The Ford exited Roadway then directly onto the desert landscape and hit a “The Ford was diverted in a south-westerly direction and came to a halt in the lanes heading south on Durango Drive south of Wigwam Avenue,” said the police in a press release.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the driver as Brandon Juarez, 25, from Las Vegas.
The driver’s death marks the 104th traffic-related death in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2021, according to police.
The crash is still under investigation by the Las Vegas police.
