KANSAS CITY, MO. – The Chiefs took note that the Las Vegas Raiders had rallied in midfield on their logo ahead of Sunday’s game, and felt it added some fuel ahead of their 48-9 win over their longtime rivals.

“You definitely don’t want people to come into your stadium and disregard the things you built,” said quarterback Patrick Mahomes. We have a rivalry against it, which is usually a tough game of football. “

At the end of the pre-game warm-ups, Yannick Ngakoue, the defensive end of the Raiders, called his teammates into midfield and then spoke a few words for them before the team went to the locker room.

“I don’t think champions really act like that,” said Chiefs defender Tyrant Mathieu.

The Chiefs scored on the first play of the game when cornerback Mike Hughes made up for a Raiders fumble that brought Josh Jacobs back and returned him 23 yards for a touchdown.

“It’s pretty disrespectful,” said Hughes of the Raiders’ move to midfield for Ngakoue’s pre-game speech. “I’m glad we jumped on her like that.”

Raiders linebacker KJ Wright admitted that his team’s pre-game actions might have given the hosts an added incentive.

“I would have been upset if I were her, too,” Wright said. “Anyone who comes and does that? And they definitely came out and responded to their anger and we couldn’t hold out.

“It was spontaneous. One guy said, ‘Let’s go’ and we all had to ride together. We all went out together. We did it as a team and just gave them a little more motivation than we had to give.” You.”

Raiders quarterback Derek Carr and backup quarterback Marcus Mariota were the first two to walk into the locker room after the pre-game speech.

“One thing I’ll say is, I always have my teammates back,” Carr said after a pause. “And I’ll stand by them forever and if we do that we will. And I’ll say that.”

The Chiefs were still sore as the Raiders buses made a winning lap around the stadium on their way to the Kansas City airport after their first Kansas City win last year since 2012.

After the game on Sunday, the Chiefs played “Wheels on the Bus” over the stadium’s loudspeaker system.

“We didn’t want them to win here again,” said Mahomes. “We went out there and did the deal.”

ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez contributed to this report.
