HENDERSON, New. – This week, a Silver & Black contingent of Las Vegas Raiders players, alumni and staff toured the Engelstad campus of Opportunity Village and met with the organization’s patrons.

During the visit, the Raiders group gained an insight into the different types of programs offered to people in our community with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including one-day post-doctoral studies, career preparation, employment and business services.

The activity ended with an outdoor picnic with the Raiders, Opportunity Village customers, and staff meeting for an afternoon of food, fun, and community. On behalf of the Raiders, punter AJ Cole, full-back Alec Ingold, and linebacker KJ Wright presented a check for $ 50,000 to Opportunity Village CEO, Opportunity Village, Bob Brown in support of their pre-employment services department serving clients for a variety von Jobs trains on campus and in internships throughout the valley.

Last year, Raiders owner Mark Davis made a donation of US $ 250,000 in a presentation with Raiders alumni and Senior Advisor to the owner and Presidents Marcel Reece and Brown during the filming of a video PSA at Allegiant Stadium Dollars to Opportunity Village.

Opportunity Village is described in its mission statement as “… a nonprofit that serves people with intellectual disabilities throughout our community to improve their lives and the lives of the families they love.” The organization adds, “Through professional training, community employment, day service, advocacy, arts, and social recreation, these people can make new friends, pursue future career paths, seek independence and community integration, and unleash creative passions.”
