The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Bureau recently released some new information about an unusual incident that occurred in The Boring Company’s LVCC Loop in June. The incident where a stray Tesla was accidentally stuck in the LVCC loop ultimately led The Boring Company to refine its logs with additional mitigation measures to ensure that such an event doesn’t happen in the future.
According to LVCVA spokeswoman Lori Kraft, the incident was caused by a Tesla driver who entered the central hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center on the 21st. While looking for a charging station, the Tesla driver finally found the LVCC Loop application area.
The LVCC loop was shut down immediately as soon as the unauthorized vehicle was discovered, and the driver was cooperative when security officers addressed the problem. Shortly thereafter, operations resumed. No injuries or damage from the stray Tesla were reported.
Kraft noted that following the incident, The Boring Company immediately refined its safety protocols with additional mitigation measures, according to a report in the Las Vegas Review-Journal. These new measures are intended to ensure that third-party vehicles can no longer access the LVCC loop in the future. However, the Boring Company has not officially commented on the incident to date.
The Boring Company is gaining momentum with its projects. Only recently, the tunneling startup was given the opportunity to negotiate exclusively for its planned Las Olas Loop in Fort Lauderdale. The company has also launched a tunnel project that would provide access to Boca Chica Beach during SpaceX launches in Starbase, Texas. The company also shared a teaser video of Prufrock-2, its second custom, all-electric excavator set to revolutionize tunneling.
